Hi, my name is Annelise, the woman behind Cali Mama Lifestyle. I am married with three children, Kurt, my husband who is in the financial world; my children Max, 4, Addy, 12, and Sophia, 16—the greatest loves of my life.
I was born in Sri Lanka to parents who labored all over Asia with a humanitarian aid organization founded and directed by my father. Because of their work, I had the opportunity to visit countries such as India, Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Indonesia. When we moved from Sri Lanka to Singapore, I began learning Chinese as a second language. From the beginning, I developed a heart for the less fortunate of the world—especially refugees and orphans. When our family returned to America, my father founded another organization that helped Kurdish refugees resettle in American. On many occasions, I spent the night with my new Kurdish friends learning to appreciate cultures far different than what Americans usually experience. This not only deepened my knowledge of the world but also intensified my compassion for those who through war and natural disaster have lost homes and close family members. My childhood was spent in Asia and then Nashville, TN, where my mother is from. I attended David Lipscomb University where I studied child psychology. I then moved to California, and no matter where I live, there is always a part of me that remains a “California Girl.” It's funny because everyone always laughs about how you can feel California right when I enter a room. It's a way of life I say. A vibe.
Why Cali Mama Lifestyle? Over the years, I developed autoimmune issues and had to fight for my own answers. I also struggle with extreme PTSD and life debilitating anxiety disorder (mental health awareness is a subject I get into often. It's not talked about enough). I had no answers and had to be my own advocate. As the years have gone by, I have continued to develop a passion for nutrition and skin care. Feeling good in your own body and skin is key to a healthy life. As a Nutritious Life Studio graduate, I have learned that beauty truly does come from within. Everyone can have a nutritious life. You just have to want it. I love combining a healthy lifestyle with great skincare to feel good within and out.
Recently, I started my Cali Mama Instragram blog, discussing the lessons I’ve learned through study and more importantly, life experience. I am amazed at the number of people that follow and engage with me, many of whom have become lifelong friends. I hope through my hard found practical knowledge, I can help others avoid mistakes that are so common in the realm of Natural Remedies and Skin Care. First and foremost, be your own advocate and remember that there is no one miracle for every individual. I am not a medical Doctor and it is alway important to know your medical history and make sure something is right for you. I share in hopes that some of the things that have helped with my autoimmune health journey can be of help to you.
